Are you living in the UK and facing a court case in Poland? Worried about needing to return, take time off work, and pay for expensive travel? Not necessarily. In many cases, personal attendance is not required – and with the help of LexbridgeLegal, most matters can be handled by a legal representative, without you ever leaving home.
1. Is court attendance always mandatory?
No. Polish law allows parties to be represented by a legal proxy – an attorney-at-law or legal counsel. This means:
- You can authorize our law firm to act on your behalf,
- In many cases, your physical presence in court will not be required.
This applies especially to:
- Inheritance cases,
- Civil claims (e.g. debt collection),
- Divorce proceedings (in some cases remote hearings are possible),
- Real estate matters (e.g. land and mortgage register entries).
Each case is individually assessed by the court, but in practice – your presence is often not necessary.
2. What can be done via a legal representative?
With support from our firm, you can:
- File a lawsuit or court application,
- Be represented at hearings,
- Receive official correspondence, respond to summons, and submit statements,
- Conduct negotiations and settle disputes,
- Request remote hearings (e.g. via Teams).
A power of attorney is usually granted in writing – you just need to sign the documents in the UK and send them to our office in Poland. We’ll take care of the rest.
3. When might traveling to Poland be necessary?
While many cases can be handled remotely, some situations may require your in-person appearance, for example:
- If you are to be questioned as a party and the court does not agree to a remote hearing,
- In family cases involving conflict or unclear circumstances,
- If the court finds your presence essential to evaluate the evidence.
Even in such cases, with proper representation, your involvement can be minimized – sometimes to a single, brief visit.
4. What are the benefits of acting through a law firm?
- Save time and travel expenses,
- Handle legal matters while maintaining your work and family life in the UK,
- Assurance that all procedures and deadlines are properly observed,
- Peace of mind – your case is in professional hands.
